[Eliza Garth] began with a work by Hayes Biggs that packs a lot into six minutes. Dedicated to the composer’s colleague, Eric Moe, and called E.M. am Flügel, the music ranges about in a romantic way, mixing atonal excursions that echo Berg with quicksilver quotes of hymn tunes [?!—H.B.] and even Gregorian chant.

Garth’s most convincing and coherent performances opened and closed her concert: Hayes Biggs’ homage to his composer/pianist colleague Eric Moe, E.M. am Flügel, a short piece with romantic gestures and echoes of Berg and Stravinsky—and Perry Goldstein’s polytonal and quasi-tonal powerhouse of a piece, Of Points Fixed and Fluid.
